Khaitan & Co. advised U M Cables Limited on the sale of its optical fibre and related cable manufacturing and sales business to RR Kabel Limited. The deal was structured as a slump sale, meaning the business was sold as a going concern rather than asset by asset.
U M Cables is a wholly owned subsidiary of Usha Martin Limited and is engaged in the manufacture and sale of optical fibre and related cables. RR Kabel is a leading Indian wires and cables manufacturer.
The transaction marks RR Kabel's entry into the optical fibre cable segment and expands its presence in the broader communication cables market.
The core team from Khaitan & Co. comprised Anuj Shah (Partner), Prithwijit Gangopadhyay (Partner), Vibhav Seth (Principal Associate), Sanjana Dwivedi (Senior Associate) and Yashvi Chandak (Associate).
