President Transfers Justice T. Vinod Kumar from Madras High Court to Telangana High Court
The President has transferred Justice T. Vinod Kumar from the Madras High Court to the Telangana High Court. The transfer was carried out on 9 October 2016 in exercise of powers under Article 222(1) of the Constitution.
The move followed a recommendation by the Supreme Court Collegium led by Chief Justice of India Surya Kant on 28 September 2026. The Collegium had recommended that Justice Vinod Kumar be repatriated to his parent High Court of the State of Telangana.
The decision was taken in view of his ensuing retirement on 16 November 2026. Justice Vinod Kumar had been transferred to the Madras High Court on 14 July 2025.
